First fashion giant Zara was blamed for copying the collection from Balmain so shamelessly and clearly, whether it was the womens or mens department. Well, people are still discussing this topic, so lets not interfere. Much more interesting is the fact that the less expensive sub label from Balmain, called Pierre Balmain, reminds us of the collections and lookbooks we have seen from Zara so far. The way the lookbook was shot, the styling as well as the clothing itself, except one or two pieces, remarkably looks like Zaras signature. What happened? One theory is that Zara not copied but even adapted Balmains whole image and style that you arent able to tell who started. The fake became the original. But enough speculations, lets get down to the clothing. Except for the the teddy biker jacket, the blazer with the leather collar and all pieces which were coloured in this beautiful blue, for example the oversize jacket, the double breaster and the knitwear cardigan with the zipper, we cant feel any euphoria. Everything been there, everything seen. To come to a conclusion, nothing revolutionary, slim cut suits, clumsy footwear and everything kept in black/anthracite arent surprising at all. And with prices in the upper three digit spheres maybe a risky movement. We are curios what the near future will bring
Zuerst hat man dem Moderiesen Zara nachgesagt sie würden die Kollektionen von Balmain eins zu eins kopieren und das es ja eine Frechheit sei dies so offensichtlich zu tun. Nun ja, darüber streiten sich die Geister, und wir wollen sie nicht weiter stören. Viel interessanter ist die Tatsache das das neue preisgünstigere Sublabel von Balmain, namens Pierre Balmain, sehr stark an die Kollektionen von Zara erinnert, zumindest was die Herrenkollektion betrifft. Die Machart des Lookbooks, das Styling sowie die Kleidung, bis auf ein zwei Ausnahmen, scheint sie sich stark an den Kreationen des Inditex Flagschiffs zu orientieren. Vielleicht hat Zara aber auch nur über die Jahre hinweg den Stil von Balmain so adaptiert, das man schon davon ausgeht es handle sich um die Handschrift von Zara, nicht andersum. Die Fälschung ist zum Original geworden. Aber genug herumgesponnen, kommen wir zu den eigtl Stücken. Bis auf die Teddy Biker Jacke, den Blazer mit dem Leder Schalkragen und den Teilen die in dunkles Blau getaucht wurden, wie z.b. das Oversize Jacket, der Zweireiher sowie der Strick Cardigan mit den Zippern hält sich die Begeisterung in Grenzen. Alles schon da gewesen, alles schon mal gesehen. Alles in allem nichts Revolutionäres, schmal geschnittene Anzüge, klobige Brogues und das alles in Schwarz sorgt für wenig Furore. Und mit Preisen im oberen dreistelligen Bereich vielleicht doch etwas zu viel des Guten. Wir sind gespannt wie es weiter geht…
