Maybe you noticed the hype, well, we think it was impossible not to. Because the news spread faster than the death of MJ, that Nike will release the Nike Mag from the famous “Back to the Future” movies. So every sneakerhead who saw the movies decades ago had the opportunity to get a pair of the Marty McFlys, which were concipiated fo a flying hover skate board and magnetic anti gravity. They manufactured an limited amount of exactly 1500 pieces which were sold via ebay for minimum 2500$, which is a horrendous price for a sneaker, but you have to consider the fact that electronics are installed to guarantee the lights to glow, so you charge the show up just like a mobile phone or notebook. On top of that Nike decided to do such a project to donate every single dollar to the Michael J Fox Foundation who do research on a cure for the Parkinson disease. So the higher the prices climbed the better. So at the end of this whole marketing boom they were able to collect 5.000.000 $ for a good cause. Not even celebrities got a pair for free, EVERYBODY HAD TO BID ON A PAIR. So easiyle prices like to 6000 $ were born. Now besides all the background information we should start to talk about the look and the design. Back in 1985 when the movies were prodcued Nike was asked to design a sneaker for the future, to be exact for the year 2015. So it had to look futuristic, unique and very special. And thats exactly how the Nike Mag look like, they are higher than high tops, colours are reduced to grey, white and the lightning green. At the sole which consists of green brush splashes, the placed seethorugh elements so the lights are visible. The heel says “Nike Mag” and features a red and yellow light element. Our favourite element is the green lightning NIKE buckle. Well, if we would own a pair, which, to the sake of our wallets, we dont do, we would place them in our office, because to us, they look as if they werent concipated to worn. Plus if you walk on them you can literally see how the dollors are worn down. To come to a conclusion, Nike did something remarkable with the Nike Mag, they created a hype which found its climax within just a few weeks, and all this to charity, strengthen the name of the brand and fulfill the dreams of thousands of sneaker freaks out there. We are aksing ourselves if ever a sneaker againg will be responsible for so much curiostiy, anticipation and hype. Maybe the Kanye Nike Air Yeezy or as Nike anounced, the “real” Nike Mag which is set to be actually released in 2015 with the power laces feature.
